Happy Mothers Day!

To day is Mothers Day and I wanted to give a  shout out to my Mom Liz Brown and share some of my memories of her with you all. First she has a blog and its http://tiztime.blogspot.de/ and her you tube is http://www.youtube.com/user/tizabear61 she is so talented!

My mom has been trow alot raising me I wasn't a easy kid. But one thing I do remember is that she was always encouraging me to do better and supporting my artistic abilities I started out coloring and always had crayons and coloring books as I got older I started drawing and she always made sure I had sketch book and paints and things I remember when I had the chicken pocks and she brought me in a box with pompom balls and tacky glue eyeballs and pipe cleaners it was summer and I couldn't go on the last summer day camp trip but I had that box and I made monsters and bugs lol but from then on I've been crafting my first stamp was a stamp with my name on it that she got for me she has always inspired me even today she looks up different things and projects to help keep me busy and even to this day every time I make something she gets a pix in her email of it even if its just a sketch lol 

When I was 17 my Mom signed paperwork allowing me to join the US Army I then went off on my own but she was always there for me. One day I called her from AIT and thanked her for being so hard on me as a kid. When your a kid you don't like rules and things but it helped me throw out my time as a soldier I'm so glad I had discipline. I also realized how much she loved me. 

It wasn't long before I went to Iraq with the 101 in 2003 when I came home I was changed but my mom was there for me when I got off that plain and after the ceremony and they released us the first person I hugged was my mom she has always been there for me when ever the was a life changing event in my life she was there.

 My mom has always been there for me one of my most recent memories I have is when I had my daughter Kiara I was going to be a mom soon and the only person I wanted was my Mom she got to Oklahoma a couple hrs before I went in to emergency surgery to become a mom myself and she went in with me and held my hand and was the first person to see my daughter. she was there 

When I was a kid my mom us to say I'm not your friend I'm your Mother when you grow up and get out on your own then we will be friends. I have to say I wouldn't have it any other way my Mom is my best friend we talk daily when we can and sometimes more then once a day! When your a mom your a mom for life I only hope I can do the same for my kids. Mom thank you for all that you have and will do for me you have always been there for me your my inspiration and biggest motivator my mentor and friend! Happy Mothers Day Mom!

Flower Tutorial

Flowers

It's spring time and we are all working on spring and summer time projects we all use flowers so this will be my second flower tutorial these flowers are a lot of fun!

The first thing you will need is a backing and you will need 2 of them roughly  the same size. I used a 1 inch punch but you can cut your own if you don't have one then. I cut about 6-12in strip (I can make 2 with the 12in strip) you will need you hot glue gun or you could use Mighty Mendit but hot glue drys faster. Ok put some glue all over the circle then you will want to  pleat  the fabric around the circle.

Then trim around it to get your desired look

then I used Tulle I hot glued the back and placed strips in a circle around the back and then glued the second backing on this is so you have something flat to glue the flower on to your project later :) then you trim around the Tulle so the Tulle shows up behind the first flower piece until you get your desired look :)

Then pick out your matching lace this should be smaller the the fabric that you used you will then glue plead it around the center of the flower 

You should come up with something like this I'm going to spray it with a glimmer mist I made or you could leave it as is :)

 Then pick out your center this can be anything you want buttons, charms, beads, any thing! I'm using a home made bead center I made.

At the end you have a beautiful looking flower!! You can embellish it with leaves, charms feathers and more ribbon. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you need help just leave me a comment and I will get back with you asap.

Memory Works Studio Challenge Update!

I'm a member over at Memory works studio and Caroline has a  challenge  and the  challenge  was to create a project using a banner and you could use a banner that is already made or you could make your own so I decided to make my own I've never used a banner before in any of my projects but I got a lot of inspiration during there blog hop! So this is the project that I came up with. It is a mini album in a Box that I altered I used Bobunny's serenity paper line and note worthy you can get this paper and more at my website  http://tiffanyfariss.memory-works.com/ The them of the paper matched up great with the pictures I had from when I was stationed in Korea. 

I had a lot of fun making this and the banners were fun too I think that I will use more banners in my projects! I'm so excited to say that I won the challenge! Carnation Flower Tutorial

This is my first tutorial so I hope this helps but this is how I make my Carnation flowers that I use on a lot of my projects :) there so fun and simple to make you can also use a punch if you don't have a die cutter :) but when you spray them they seem to bloom in to life! I hope this helps!

Flowers and Tags

This is what I have been working on I made all the flowers we had to make 5 sets of 3 each but I added a few extra to it  and this is how I packaged it they are all misted with my home made misters! I was really happy with the way they turned out I love making flowers!!!

This is the tag I made for the tag swap this was fun it had to reflect a hobby and well mine is crafting lol so it says create on it I made all the flowers and stickpins and mod podge the tag with song music sheets and misted everything ! it was so much fun!!!! I got the images from http://astridsartisticefforts.blogspot.de/ she has wonderful printouts you can use for free in your projects I just love it when I seen the create on there I new what I was going to make and the girl is supper cute! so thank you Astrid for all your inspiration!

My itty bitty SHAPED mini

I'm involved with a swap over at MAS  it’s an itty bitty SHAPED mini! and this is what I have made we had to make 4 I keep one and send 3. I was so challenged because it had to be Shaped and no rectangles or squares! so this is my Mini :) it took me a long time to make it and everything had to be the same so Iworked hard to make it all the same!

Because this mini had to be so small I couldn't really make a lot of tags but there is one pull out like tag I also left room for 4 photos and there is a few spots to journal I also made each album a charm and they are all the same ! I used Sweet Nothings Collectibles by kaiser-craft and a few from Bo bunny card stock cutouts I used K&Company Best of Brenda Walton for the papers and I used some Tim Holtz embellishments and Prima flowers. and some fibers. this was so much fun even if it was a challenge!! Paperfollies swaps

Hi I've been working hard on my swaps for paperfollies over at yahoo group every month they have beautiful little swaps and the people are so nice! I've been swaping with them for almost a year now and I love it!

this is the Rinchies that I made 

this is my 4x4 I colored it with my home made glitter mists and distressed everything!

I signed up to make 2 cards but for one of the card swaps I was the only one who signed up so I decided to give both cards to the one swap lol 

we had to make 2 tags based on an occupation so I picked a librarian  and zookeeper
